EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 24 Northwestern embarks on the season's second-to-last road trip to Michigan, where it will compete in two Big Ten contests this weekend. The `Cats take on Michigan State on Friday at noon, followed by Michigan on Saturday at noon.

Ranked No. 24 in the nation this week, Northwestern is 14-7 on the season and 3-2 in conference play. The `Cats most recently achieved two 7-0 shut-outs last Sunday over No. 50 Penn State and IUPUI.

The singles and doubles rankings remain unchanged with sophomore Sam Shropshire at No. 92, classmate Strong Kirchheimer at No. 124, and Shropshire and senior Alex Pasareanu at No. 69 in doubles.

Shropshire won three consecutive singles matches last weekend at No. 1, including one over Ohio State's 32nd-ranked Mikael Torpegaard. Recently-returned sophomore Konrad Zieba accomplished the same win streak at No. 3.

Michigan State is 11-10 this spring and 2-2 in the Big Ten. The Spartans defeated then-No. 54 Iowa last Sunday and boast the No. 17 doubles team of John Patrick Mullane and Harry Jadun. The `Cats beat MSU 6-1 at home last year.

Michigan has compiled a 3-12 season record and is 0-4 in the conference. The Wolverines' roster includes the No. 67 duo of Alex Petrone and Michael Zhu. NU defeated Michigan 6-1 in Evanston last year.
