Shuji Otsuka joined Northwestern Athletics in August 2015 as the Learning Strategist/Study Skills Coordinator in the Academic Services and Student Development unit. After earning his master's degree in history from Northwestern in 2000, Otsuka taught and advised undergraduates at the University of Oregon, North Central College, and the University of Maryland, where he worked for the past two years with men's basketball and football as well as Olympic sports student-athletes.
Born in Japan and raised in Los Angeles, Otsuka earned a bachelor's degree in social history from Carnegie Mellon University. He resides with his partner, Jennifer, in Evanston and is an avid runner, swimmer, and all weather cyclist, having recently completed the Los Angeles Marathon and Terrapin Triathlons.
