Ray O'Connell joined the Northwestern athletic communications staff in January of 2016. He is currently the media relations contact for the men's basketball, field hockey, and women's tennis programs.
Prior to his current role, O'Connell spent three years on the Northwestern University football staff. He served as the program's social media and operations assistant during the 2013 season, before being elevated to the role of assistant director of football operations in 2014.
The Evanston, Ill., native attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in public relations in 2013. During his undergraduate years, O'Connell was a student assistant in the athletics media relations department.
