Preston Michelson joined the Northwestern athletic communications staff in March 2017. He is the secondary contact for men's basketball and, additionally, serves as the primary contact for the women's soccer, baseball, and wrestling programs.
Prior to his hiring, he spent the 2016 season with the world champion Chicago Cubs as a media relations intern. Before that, Michelson worked for the Northwestern athletic communications staff as a student assistant, focusing primarily on women’s swimming and diving, for nearly a year.
Before his student assistantship with athletic communications, he also worked with the marketing and broadcast operations department of Northwestern, serving as a public address announcer, broadcaster, and BTN+ student assistant.
Other experience includes a graphic design internship with Imagination Publishing and an internship with Brendan Reilly, the alderman of Chicago’s 42nd Ward.
A Miami, Florida, native, Michelson graduated from Northwestern University in March 2017 with degrees in political science and journalism and is currently enrolled in Northwestern's masters in public policy and administration program. He currently lives in Chicago's historic Lakeview neighborhood.
