Myisha Jennings joined Northwestern Athletics in September 2021 as an Academic Advisor and Director of Student-Athlete Development. Her responsibilities include serving as an advisor to student-athletes from the following programs: baseball, football, men's soccer, women's basketball, women's fencing, women's field hockey, women's lacrosse, and women's tennis. She monitors academic progress regarding B1G Ten and NCAA legislation and assists first year student-athletes in their transition to NU.
In addition, Jennings serves as the director of Northwestern’s King NU P.R.I.D.E. Program, a student development initiative designed to help NU's student-athletes find personal success through service to the campus and their community while enhancing their leadership skills, celebrating diversity, and promoting student-athlete welfare through meaningful programming. In this role she advises the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Peers Urging Responsible Practice through Leadership and Education [P.U.R.P.L.E.] Mentoring Program while offering support to the First-Year Experience Program, the Engage Program, as well as the King NU P.R.I.D.E. Leadership Institute.
Jennings serves on the Northwestern Athletics and Recreation Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion [JEDI] committee.
Prior to Northwestern, Jennings served three years at Youngstown State Athletics as an Assistant Athletic Director. Jennings served as a sport administrator [to women's bowling, men's and women's tennis and women's volleyball], in compliance where she monitored and upheld NCAA Rules and Regulations, as the coordinator for student-athlete welfare programming and outreach activities, and as the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Before joining the Youngstown State Athletics department as one of the Assistant Athletic Directors, Jennings spent two years serving as an intern and graduate assistant in compliance and academic services within the athletic department. During this time, she assisted the compliance staff with daily operations of the NCAA Rules and Regulations pertaining to eligibility, athletic aid, waiver requests, interpretations, promotional requests and recruiting activities. She also worked with at-risk student-athletes for the football and track & field programs and created a 16-week strategic program to guide them toward degree completion, career development and campus involvement.
Jennings also has work experience as an Ohio College Guide at Americorps, an Academic Coach at Kent State University, an Admissions Representative at South University (online) and an Interim Program Coordinator with the College Credit Plus Program at Youngstown State University.
Jennings is a two-time graduate of Youngstown State University. She earned her Master of Science in Education degree [Counseling and Student Affairs Program] in 2019.
