Karl Kirch joined Northwestern Athletics as Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations in October 2018. He is responsible for day-to-day facility oversight of the newly constructed Ryan Fieldhouse and Walter Athletics Center, as well as Patten Gymnasium, Gleacher Golf Center, and Blomquist Recreation Center.
Prior to joining Northwestern, Kirch served as the Assistant Director of Facilities & Event Management at UNCW, in Wilmington, North Carolina. As Assistant Director, he oversaw event management and facility responsibilities for men’s basketball, baseball, and women’s beach and indoor volleyball. He was promoted to Assistant Director in July 2017, after previously serving as the Facilities & Event Management intern.
In 2016, Kirch graduated from SUNY Cortland with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. As an undergraduate, he worked for the athletics department as an Event Manager, working directly with the football, men’s ice hockey, and women’s lacrosse programs.
Kirch currently serves on the steering committee for Collegiate Athletics Operations Services (CAOS). In addition, he manages the facilities and grounds for the Bahamas Bowl.
Originally, from Camden, New York, Kirch currently resides in Chicago.
