Kacie Dohrmann was elevated to Assistant Athletic Director for the Wildcat Fund to oversee Northwestern Athletics and Recreation’s annual giving, while carrying a portfolio of major gifts prospects and donors. She also leads collaboration efforts with the University’s Annual Giving team and is a member of the athletics department’s Senior Staff.
In Dohrmann’s expanded role, she will lead the Wildcat Fund, which encompasses sport specific giving for 19 varsity programs, the Vice President’s Fund, and the Wildcat Excellence Fund. Gifts to the Wildcat Excellence Fund are the most impactful contributions to NU Athletics and directly impact the student-athlete experience through five core areas: academic services, sports medicine, performance nutrition, sports performance and summer school. Generous contributions provide the resources for more than 500 student-athletes to pursue excellence in the classroom, in competition and in the community.
Dohrmann’s fundraising efforts for almost seven years at Northwestern have helped raise an unprecedented level of philanthropic support. During her time, Wildcat Fund dollars have increased by 49% and membership by 23% from creative campaigns, like National Student-Athlete Day and Willie’s Challenge, complemented by enhanced engagement and stewardship. She co-founded a ground-breaking initiative, Champions for Wildcat Women, to increase funding for women’s varsity sports, empower female student-athletes and celebrate advocacy of women’s athletics, which amassed 444 new donors and over $460,000 of new and increased giving in its inaugural year.
Dohrmann joined Northwestern Athletics in June of 2014, was named assistant director for the Wildcat Fund in July of 2016 and served as director of the Wildcat Fund since 2018 until her most recent promotion.
Prior to arriving in Evanston, Dohrmann spent a year with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). Dohrmann completed her MBA with a concentration in sports management at DePaul University while serving as a graduate assistant in both athletics academic advising and compliance.
In 2011, Dohrmann graduated with two bachelor's degrees from the University of Denver. While at Denver, Dohrmann was captain of the volleyball team, named the 2007 Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and honored as the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week seven times. She also served as the treasurer of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a representative for the Sun Belt Conference SAAC.
A native of Crystal Lake, Ill., she and her family currently reside in Chicago.
