Jocelyn Serranilla (nee Vinoya) joined Northwestern Athletics almost three decades ago, first as a support staff in the office of the Athletics Director in 1994 before moving on to Media Services (now Communications) in 1996. She serves as program assistant in External Affairs and coordinates the day-to-day administrative support of the department, including managing and updating the staff directory, and the online media credential system for football and men’s basketball. She has written and published student-athlete feature stories on NUsports.com and continues to write staff bios for the department. She serves as the main contact for research as she maintains an archive of Athletics assets such as photos/digital images and media guides. She is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Serranilla graduated from the University of the Philippines with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy. She worked as a writer and public relations officer for government agencies in the Philippines, including as scriptwriter for Radio-TV Malacañang under the first woman president of the Philippines, Corazon Aquino, and the Department of Trade and Industry (equivalent of the Department of Commerce in the US). In 2008, she went back to school and studied nursing and passed the Illinois licensure for practical nursing (LPN) in 2011.
A native of the Philippines, she migrated to the United States in the 1990’s, raised a family in Chicagoland and was blessed with three children - Spencer, Sigmund and Sentry who are all currently attending college. She currently lives as an empty nester in Mt. Prospect with her husband Raul and their Chihuahua named Chewy.
