Hilary De Vries joined Northwestern’s Department of Athletics and Recreation in September 2021. She assists in the oversight and coordination of programming from the Wellness Suite, including personal training, group exercise, massage therapy, and white light therapy, in addition to fitness and wellness collaborations with campus partners.
Specializing in fitness and wellness, as well as student development and administration in a higher education setting, De Vries has worked in collegiate recreation for most of her career. Prior to her time at Northwestern, De Vries served as Boston College’s Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness, and Loyola University Chicago’s Fitness Programs Coordinator.
De Vries graduated from Boston College with a Master of Arts in Higher Education – Administration, from Southern Connecticut State University with a Master of Science in Exercise Science – Human Performance, and from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. She also has certifications from American College of Sports Medicine as an Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP), National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS), the American Council on Exercise as a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Group Fitness Instructor, and has her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate.
