Felicia Gowanlock joined Northwestern University as an Academic Advisor for Athletics in September of 2016. She is responsible for nine of 19 varsity sports teams, including soccer, fencing, tennis, lacrosse, field hockey, and basketball for the women’s teams, and baseball, football and men’s soccer. On top of serving as an academic advisor, Gowanlock also helps to develop, coordinate and execute the student-athlete development and life skill programing initiatives for Wildcats sports teams.
Prior to coming to Northwestern, Gowanlock worked as advisor for the Biological Sciences Department at DePaul University in Chicago. Also at DePaul, she served as graduate assistant at the student leadership institute for a year, as well as the graduate assistant for two years in athletics academic advising for track and field, and cross country. Gowanlock interned for a year at Loyola University in the Department of Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, coordinating workshops centered on racial identity.
Originating from Rochester, New York, Gowanlock attended Allegheny College located in Meadville, Pennsylvania where she studied psychology and biology. She was a catcher and two-time team captain of the Allegheny Gators softball team. She moved on to DePaul University where she obtained her Masters of Education in Counseling with a focus in college student development.
