Andrew Haring, a native of Evanston, joined Northwestern University in September of 2019.
Prior to Northwestern, Haring spent five years as the Associate Athletic Director for Advancement at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In that role, Haring was a member of the department’s senior staff and oversaw all aspects of fundraising and alumni engagement for UIC Athletics, as well as other external responsibilities. During his tenure, UIC Athletics experienced increased fundraising every year from 2015 to 2018, and established record marks for Giving Tuesday fundraising and attendance at UIC Athletic Hall of Fame and athletic alumni events.
From February 2010 until December 2013, Haring was the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations at the University of Texas-Pan American. While at UTPA, he provided management for several departments, including fundraising, marketing, promotions, corporate sponsorships, licensing, tickets, and media relations. Additionally, Haring had oversight of several sport programs, including cross country, track and field, and tennis. Haring led a staff that increased overall department revenue by 260% from 2010-2013. During that same period, he also helped boast sponsorship dollars by 372%.
Prior to Texas-Pan American, Haring spent more than three years at Texas-San Antonio, having supervision over the athletic development office along with game operations, marketing initiatives, and spirit squad oversight. He was promoted after his first year to Assistant Athletic Director for Development.
From 2005-2007, Haring worked as the Assistant Director of Athletic Development at Northern Illinois where he advanced the NIU giving program and maintained several significant donor and sponsor accounts.
Haring began his career in college athletics involved with basketball programs at both Wabash Valley College and UIC. As an assistant coach at Wabash Valley College, he helped the team to a seventh-place finish at the 1996 NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. He then worked nine seasons as the Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at UIC, during which time the Flames earned four postseason appearances, including NCAA Tournament bids in 1998, 2002, and 2004.
Haring earned a bachelor's degree in Journalism and a master’s degree in Sport Management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at Illinois, he served as a student manager and later as a graduate assistant for the Fighting Illini men's basketball team.
