NU Falls 13-3 at No. 5 Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – OF Jack Lausch slugged his second homer of the year as Northwestern fell 13-3 in seven innings at No. 5 Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon.

Georgia Tech (10-1) jumped out to an early lead with three runs on four hits and one walk in the bottom of the first. 

Northwestern (5-4) evened the score in the top of the third, responding with three runs of its own. OF Logan de Groot drove in C Jay Slater with an RBI single to center field to put the 'Cats on the board. Two batters later, Lausch launched his second home run of the season to deep right field, scoring de Groot and tying the game at three.

The Yellow Jackets responded with two runs in the bottom of the second, five in the third, two in the fifth and walked it off on a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

LHP Ryan Weaver (0-1) surrendered eight runs, all earned, on 10 hits and two walks in 2.0 innings pitched in the setback.

LHP Dylan Loy (1-0) earned the win, allowing three runs on nine hits in 4.0 innings pitched, striking out four. RHP Jake Lankie (1) earned the save, in 3.0 shutout innings, surrendering just one hit and one walk, fanning four.

Sunday's series finale is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on ACCNX. RHP Garrett Shearer is slated to get the nod on the mound for the Wildcats.
