MEDFORD, Mass. (January 19, 2026) – No. 6 Northwestern fencing finished a perfect 4-0 en route to winning the Tufts Invitational team title for the second time in as many years on Sunday in Medford, Mass.

The Wildcats turned in a comprehensive showing inside the Gantcher Center, posting a combined 10-2 mark across all three weapons, a total highlighted by a sparkling 4-0 showing in the foil.

Northwestern started fast, sweeping all three weapons in morning victories over Wellesley, 20-7, and Brown, 16-11, wins bolstered by a combined 14-4 showing in the foil.

Following a 19-8 triumph over event host Tufts that included wins in epee and foil, the 'Cats closed their stay with a top-15 win, grinding past No. 12 Cornell, 14-13, behind victories from both the foil and sabre squads to secure the meet title.

The pairing of Brianna Ho and Samantha Serban led the way for Northwestern's foilists, which finished with a combined 28-8 record.  Ho posted a spotless 8-0 mark, a win total that led all Wildcats, while Serban finished 6-0 overall.

In the sabre, Megumi Oishi continued the red-hot start to her senior campaign, matching Serban with a 6-0 mark to run her 2025-26 dual record to an impressive 26-4.  Elaine Lu checked in just behind Oishi with five wins.  Nisha Hild, one of four Massachusetts natives competing for the 'Cats, helped propel Northwestern past Cornell in the meet finale, coming out on top in all three of her bouts.

Karen Wang paced the Wildcat epeeists with a 5-1 showing to improve to 18-12 this season.  The trio of Anna Damratoski, Christina Liu, and Emma Ning each came away with four victories.
