LAKE BLUFF, Ill. – (September 16, 2025) Led by a stellar final round from Jeremy Chen, Northwestern men's golf surged to fourth place in the team championship at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. The Wildcats' finish qualifies them for match play on Wednesday, facing off against Arizona in the consolation round.
The 'Cats saw improvement through each round of competition at Shoreacres, closing Tuesday's round with a two-under-par score of 278 strokes. Northwestern finished the stroke-play portion of the event at three-under, putting together a 54-hole score of 837 (280-279-278).
Chen opened the event with a score of 69 before firing a 74 in his second round. The junior set a new career-low score in his final round, utilizing five birdies en route to a three-under-par 67. Chen placed in a share of 16th at even-par for a new 54-hole low score of 210 (69-74-67).
Daniel Svärd picked up his first top-5 finish of the season, firing a three-under 67 in his second round to place in a share of third at four-under-par. One shot behind him was Rowan Sullivan at three-under-par, with the redshirt-sophomore matching Svärd's 67 in his second round en route to a seventh-place finish.
Ethan Tseng carded an even-par 70 in his final round to place in a share of 29th while Monty Holcombe rounded out the group in 34th.
