DURHAM, N.C. – Northwestern women's soccer suffered its first setback of the 2025 campaign with a 3-0 loss at No. 1 Duke on Thursday evening.
In the 15th minute, Blue Devil forward Kat Rader broke open the scoring. Rader's goal snapped NU's season-opening scoreless streak at 194 minutes and 48 seconds, its longest shutout streak since Aug. 29-Sep. 12, 2024 (269 minutes and six seconds).
The Blue Devils pounced on a Wildcat miscue in the 20th minute to double their lead, with Avery Oder tallying the goal for Duke.
In the second half, Rader added her second goal of the contest in the 57th minute to extend Duke's lead to 3-0.
First-year midfielder Keira Kemmerley and junior goalkeeper CJ Roy both made their collegiate debuts in the contest.
NU falls to 0-2 all-time against No. 1 ranked teams in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and 0-2 all-time against the Blue Devils.
The Wildcats will return home to open up the home slate against Kent State on Sunday, August 24 at 4 p.m. CT on B1G+.
