PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 24, 2025) – Battling a loaded field, Skye Ellis and Anna Hightower both earned top-20 finishes in the 5,000m run, as the duo represented Northwestern cross country at the prestigious Penn Relays this evening in Philadelphia, Pa.
Ellis led the way for the 'Cats on a mild spring evening at historic Franklin Field, earning a runner-up finish in her heat with a time of 16:15.62, a 17-second improvement from her month-old personal best that saw her place 14th overall. Tonight's effort from the Jan Juc, Australia native vaults her up to fourth on the program's all-time outdoor record board in the 5,000m run.
Also making her second 5,000m run appearance of the outdoor campaign, Hightower was hot on Ellis' heels. Out of Arnhem, Netherlands, Hightower clocked a near 20-second season best, crossing in 16:24.56 to come in fourth in the heat and 18th overall.
Northwestern closes out the outdoor portion of its 2024-25 track schedule on Friday, May 2 at the Wisconsin Twilight in Madison, Wis.
