Northwestern Drops Doubleheader at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. – Northwestern dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader at Nebraska to wrap up its three-game series at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.

Nebraska put up seven runs in the first two innings en route to a 14-4 (7 innings) run-rule victory in the opening game of the twinbill. In the series finale, Husker LHP Jackson Brockett allowed just two hits, striking out five in 5.0 scoreless innings, as Nebraska took the series finale, 5-2.

Bennett Markinson had a standout day at the plate, going 3-for-6 with a double and a hit by pitch.

Ryan Kucherak went 2-for-7 with a double and two RBI. Kucherak logged an RBI in each game, extending his streak to four consecutive games with an RBI.

In game two, PH Griffin Mills went deep to right field for his second career homer and first of the 2025 campaign.

Following the three-game series in Lincoln, Northwestern will return home for a six-game homestand at Miller Park. The 'Cats will host UIC on Tuesday, April 22 before a three-game series against Washington from April 25-April 27.
