EVANSTON, Ill. – After securing her second career collegiate victory, Northwestern senior Lauryn Nguyen (West Seattle HS/Seattle, Wash.) has been named the Big Ten Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Thursday. This marks the third weekly conference honor of Nguyen's career (October 4 & 26, 2023).
This is the second consecutive week a Wildcat has won the award. Coming off her first career victory, Northwestern junior Dianna Lee earned the honor last week after winning the individual title at the PING/ASU Invitational.
Nguyen (-9, 70-68-69=207) led the Wildcats to a three-peat at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif. No. 10 Northwestern returned to the par-72 6,207-yard Silverado Resort South Course full of confidence after winning team titles there in both 2023 and 2024.
Nguyen's nine-under for the tournament bested her closest opponent by four strokes. She was the only player at the Showdown to post all three rounds under par. Nguyen finished round one tied for second on the player leaderboard, pulled ahead on the second day and never looked back in the final round, carding 68-69 on Tuesday and Wednesday. She finished the event shooting 50 of 54 holes at or below par, making 13 birdies.
The individual title is Nguyen's second collegiate victory (2023 Windy City Collegiate Classic).
Up next, the team's focus turns to the Big Ten Championships in Havre de Grace, Maryland, April 18-20.
