Maddie Zimmer Named Finalist for Honda Award in Field Hockey

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern senior midfielder Maddie Zimmer has been named a finalist for the 2024 Honda Sports Award for Field Hockey, honoring one of the nation's top collegiate athletes. The award is presented annually by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA sports.

Zimmer, from Hershey, Pa., led Northwestern to its second-ever NCAA Championship title in 2024. She starred in the championship game with two goals and an assist for five points and had game-winning assists in both the semifinal and quarterfinal rounds. The Wildcats finished their historic season 23-1.
 
Zimmer, a two-time NCAA Tournament MVP (2021, 2024), was also named the 2024 NFHCA National Player of the Year, Big Ten Player of the Year, and NFHCA West Region Player of the Year. She is a four-time NFHCA All-American and a four-time All-Big Ten honoree.
 
Internationally, Zimmer represented Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics, solidifying her status as one of the sport's brightest stars.
 
The winner of the Honda Sports Award will be announced soon, with the recipient becoming a finalist for the Honda Cup as the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.
