ANN ARBOR, Mich. – After reaching a semifinal in the ITA Midwest Regional last month, Britany Lau and Mika Dagan Fruchtman have been selected for the ITA Central Sectional Championship this weekend in Ann Arbor. The tournament provides the duo with a chance to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships.
Lau - a grad student - and Dagan Fructhman - a first year - will compete as one of 16 duos in the doubles bracket, beginning on Thursday. Their first-round match will be against Michigan's Piper Charney and Emily Sartz-Lunde. In doubles play, both sets of finalists as well as the winner of the third-place match will all earn automatic qualification to the NCAA Doubles Championships.
Lau will also compete as one of 32 players in the singles bracket in Ann Arbor. She will face off with Iowa's Marisa Schmidt in her first individual match of the weekend. All four singles semifinalists as well as the two quarterfinals playoff winners will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championships.

Following play this weekend, fall tennis season will conclude with the NCAA Tournament, which will take place in Waco, Texas, at Baylor. The tournament begins on Nov. 19, with champions to be crowned the following Sunday, Nov. 24.
