Awujo's Hat Trick Powers 'Cats past Penn State, 4-1

EVANSTON, Ill. – Akinjide Awujo recorded the only hat trick in a Big Ten Conference game this season as Northwestern raced past Penn State 4-1 in its regular season finale.

The win improved Northwestern's record to 9-7-1 overall and 3-6-1 in Big Ten action.

How it Happened
In the 16th minute, Brandon Clagette's cross found Paul Son, who headed it home to break the deadlock and give NU a 1-0 lead.

In the 30th minute, Son connected with Akinjide Awujo on the counterattack to add on to the Wildcat lead.

Awujo put the Wildcats up 3-0 in the 60th minute with a right-footed strike that gave the PSU goalkeeper no chance to secure his brace.

The Nittany Lions narrowed the Wildcats lead and made it a 3-1 game with a 72nd-minute goal from Malick Daouda, assisted by Ben Madore and Christian Dionne.

Awujo secured his hat trick in the 74th minute, assisted by Tyler Glassberg and Thaddaeus Dewing.
