'Cats Fall in Straight Sets to Ohio State

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern volleyball team fell in straight sets (23-25, 16-25, 24-26) to the Ohio State Buckeyes Thursday at home at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

The loss dropped Northwestern's record to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in Big Ten action.

Alexa Rousseau led the Wildcats with nine kills and 17 digs, while also chipping in 10 assists to finish one kill shy of a triple double. Kennedy Hill also hit a career high .700 to go along with eight kills and seven blocks.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Wildcats fell behind early, losing a close first set 25-23. Ohio State grabbed the advantage for good at 24-23 in a set that was knotted up 13 times before the Buckeyes took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 2 | Northwestern fell in set two 25-16, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. Northwestern trailed by as many as 12 points as Ohio State grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was knotted up four times before the Buckeyes took over the lead.

SET 3 | Northwestern couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Wildcats fell in a close set, losing 26-24 in a stanza that was tied six times and had one lead change.
