No. 18 Iowa Upends Northwestern 2-1

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern fell to Iowa 2-1 on Sunday, September 29 at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium.

Northwestern fell to 5-6-2 overall and 0-4-1 in Big Ten play following the loss.

How it Happened
Both sides played to a scoreless first half, with Northwestern holding a slight edge in shots, 2-1 in the first 45 minutes.

In the 59th minute, Emma Phillips was fouled in the 18-yard box, earning a penalty kick for the Wildcats. Josie Aulicino stepped up to the spot and coolly slotted it home to give the 'Cats a 1-0 lead.

Iowa equalized on a goal from Elle Otto in the 67th minute and took the lead on Lauren Geczik's 88th-minute goal.
