SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Despite outshooting the Orange 17-4, Northwestern was unable to find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss at Syracuse on Thursday, August 29 at SU Soccer Stadium.

Northwestern (3-2-0, 0-0-0 Big Ten) also held an 8-1 edge in shots on goal and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks in the contest. Shea Vanderbosch made eight saves for the Orange (4-1-0, 0-0-0 ACC).

How it Happened

In the 15th minute, Syracuse broke through, pouncing on an errant Wildcat pass to take a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats responded well, going on to outshoot SU 8-2 in the first half, but went into the first half down a goal.

The Wildcats continued to dominate play in the second half, outshooting the Orange 9-2 in the final 45 minutes, but couldn't convert on any of their chances, eventually falling 1-0.
