Lauryn Nguyen Tabbed Golfweek All-American

2024 Golfweek Women's College All-America Teams Opens in a new window
EVANSTON, Ill. (June 4, 2024) – Less than two weeks removed from being named an All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), Northwestern University junior Lauryn Nguyen (Seattle, Wash./West Seattle) added another accolade on Tuesday, taking home Golfweek All-American honors.

An Honorable Mention selection, Nguyen is the sixth player in program history to secure All-American distinction from both the WGCA and Golfweek in the same season and is the first Wildcat to accomplish the feat since Irene Kim in 2020-21.

A First Team All-Big Ten Conference selection, Nguyen piled up six top-10 finishes across 12 appearances this past season, closing the year with a single-season program-record 71.49 stroke average.  The Seattle, Wash. native secured her first collegiate victory last October at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, firing an 11-under-par 205 (66-70-69) to finish atop the leaderboard.  In total, Nguyen shot 24 rounds at par or better and tallied seven rounds in the 60s.

Paced by Nguyen's stellar play, Northwestern enjoyed a terrific 2023-24 campaign, accumulating eight top-three finishes.  Guided by two-time defending Big Ten Coach of the Year Emily Fletcher and assistant coach Beth Miller, the 'Cats closed the regular season with victories at the PING/ASU Invitational and the Silverado Showdown, respectively, before securing the program's 10th NCAA Women's Golf Championships berth following a fourth-place finish at the NCAA East Lansing Regional.  Northwestern went on to post its eighth top-15 finish in program history at the NCAA Championships, placing 11th overall.
