Northwestern Readies For NCAA East Lansing Regional

EVANSTON, Ill. (May 5, 2024) – The Northwestern University women's golf will make its 14th straight regional appearance at the start of the week when it begins competition at the NCAA East Lansing Regional in East Lansing, Mich.
 
Michigan State University will play host to the NCAA East Lansing Regional at the Forest Akers West Golf Course, which plays with a par of 72 and features a 6,325-yard layout.  Teams will play three 18-hole rounds, with tee times set for 9 a.m. Monday through Wednesday.
 
Northwestern, the region's No. 2 seed, will be joined by Southern California, Florida, Pepperdine, Michigan State, Kentucky, Denver, Oklahoma State, Indiana, Augusta, Illinois State, and Oakland, along with a group of six individuals.
 
Two-time reigning Big Ten Coach of the Year Emily Fletcher and assistant coach Beth Miller's lineup for the week will feature Lauryn Nguyen, Jennifer Cai, Jieni Li, Ashley Yun, and Jiayi WangDianna Lee will serve as the Wildcats' substitute.
 
Nguyen, Cai, Li, and Yun were recognized as All-Big Ten Conference honorees earlier this week when the league announced its postseason honors.  Nguyen and Cai, who both own individual victories this season, each brought home First Team All-Big Ten accolades, while Li and Yun earned Second Team All-Big Ten nods.  Yun was also honored as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, becoming the third Wildcat in as many seasons to win the award.

The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional site will advance to play at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships, May 17-22, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
