'Cats Fall to Michigan in B1G Tournament Quarterfinals

EVANSTON, Ill. - No. 67 Northwestern men's tennis fell 4-0 to the two-seed Michigan Wolverines in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Tournament on Friday in Evanston.

The Wolverines (15-11) - ranked No. 27 nationally by the ITA - were in control from start to finish against the Wildcats (10-18). Michigan started by securing the doubles point with victories at #2 and #3 doubles, 6-1 and 6-2 respectively.

Their success continued in singles. At #6, Michigan's Nicholas Steiglehner picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Nick Herdoiza. No. 19 Gavin Young picked up the next singles victory on the #1 court, defeating Presley Thieneman 6-4, 6-2. The deciding point came at #4, where Patorn Hanchaikul defeated Felix Nordby 6-2, 6-4 to lock in the 4-0 victory for the Wolverines. 

Northwestern's only set victory came on court #5, where Max Bengtsson bounced back from a 4-6 first set to defeat Will Cooksey 6-2 in the second set.
