Moss Named CCFC Women’s Team Coach Of The Year

EVANSTON, Ill. (April 9, 2024) – For a fourth straight season, Northwestern fencing head coach Zach Moss has been named the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CCFC) Women's Team Coach of the Year.

Moss enjoyed one of his finest seasons to date in 2023-24, leading the 'Cats to a 36-12 record in dual action.  Northwestern finished the regular season on a tear, winning 20 of 21 matchups ahead of the postseason, a run that included a sparkling 10-0 mark at the Northwestern Duals in early February.

Spurred on by its strong finish to the regular season, Northwestern carried momentum into the postseason, winning its first outright CCFC title in program history as it went a perfect 6-0 at the CCFC Championships in Columbus, Ohio.  11 Wildcats went on to earn podium finishes during the individual section of the league meet, with Karen Wang (Epee) and Adele Bois (Sabre) laying claim to conference championships.

Six Wildcats earned All-Region honors from the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA), a group that included Wang, Ava Wade-Currie (Epee), Juliana Hung (Foil), Megumi Oishi (Sabre), Levi Hoogendoorn (Sabre), and Alex Chen (Sabre).  Wang, Hoogendoorn, Oishi, and Karina Vasile (Epee) represented Northwestern at the NCAA Championships.
