Lake Show Win Their Sixth Straight, Defeat UAlbany Great Danes 25-8

EVANSTON, Ill. – On Sunday afternoon, top-ranked Northwestern (7-1) won their third in a row at home and sixth consecutive game, defeating UAlbany (1-6) 25-8 at Ryan Fieldhouse. The Wildcats were led by Izzy Scane (4 goals and 1 assist on a team-high 9 shots), Madison Taylor (3 goals and 3 assists), Erin Coykendall (3 goals and 3 assists) and Dylan Amonte (3 goals). Samantha Smith (6) led the team in draw controls.

How It Happened

Coykendall scored her third hat trick in a first quarter this season. The Wildcats were comfortably up 10-3 by the end of the first quarter. A trio of 'Cats scored a hat trick inthe first half: Scane, Taylor and Coykendall. Lucy Munro added her third and fourth goals of the season. Northwestern led at the break 17-4. UAlbany outscored the Wildcats 3-2 in the third quarter. Wildcats sophomore attacker Abby LoCascio scored the first two goals of her career in the fourth quarter. NU outshot their opponents 41-18 and won the draw control battle 18-16.

Game Notes

  • Sunday was the fourth-ever meeting between the 'Cats and UAlbany, but only the second in the regular season. Northwestern leads the series 4-0.
  • The Wildcats boast an impressive 38-game winning streak at home, the longest active streak in the nation.
  •  NU's Serafina DeMunno and Noel Cumberland both scored their second goals of the season.
  • First-year Alexis Ventresca scored her third goal of the season.
  • Alia Marshall notched her first career start for the Wildcats in a lacrosse uniform.
