South Bend, Ind. - Northwestern Lacrosse faced a challenging match on Friday night, falling 14-10 to No. 8 Notre Dame. Despite a strong start, including jumping to a three-goal lead in the first quarter, Northwestern found themselves tied 3-3 at the end of the quarter. Notre Dame's relentless offense led by attacker Jackie Wolak, who finished with four goals and two assists, kept the Wildcats on their toes throughout the game.

Wildcats goalkeeper Molly Laliberty made several crucial saves, totaling 10, to keep Northwestern in contention. However, Notre Dame's dominance in the draw control battle, where they more than doubled Northwestern with a score of 20-8, proved to be a significant factor in the outcome.

Offensively, Northwestern was led by Erin Coykendall, who contributed two goals and two assists, along with Madison Taylor and Izzy Scane, both tallying two goals and one assist each. Despite their efforts, Notre Dame's strong performance in the second and third quarters, particularly with five consecutive goals in the fourth quarter, secured the win for the Fighting Irish.

Northwestern's junior Emerson Bohlig and graduate transfer Lindsey Frank also made notable contributions to the game. Bohlig scored her first goal of 2024, while Frank added to her season tally with her fourth goal.

This loss marks a challenging moment for Northwestern Lacrosse, as they drop to 8-2 lifetime at Notre Dame and snap a 22 game win streak. The team remains determined and focused as they return home to Evanston to take on Marquette at Ryan Fieldhouse on Monday, February 19 at 6:00 p.m. CT.
