Evanston, Ill. - The Wildcats men's and women's swimming & diving teams are gearing up for the highly anticipated Big Ten Triple Duals/Quad, set to take place at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The event spans two days of competition, with eleven events scheduled to kick off on Friday at 5 p.m., followed by nine more events on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. Hosted by Purdue University, this event marks the first time the Boilermakers have hosted since January 2020.
The Wildcats are scheduled to compete against strong competition from Purdue, Minnesota, and the women's team from Iowa in this multi-team event. Over the span of two days, a total of twenty events will take place. For fans who are unable to attend in person, the Big Ten Network's B1G+ website and app will provide live streaming coverage of both days of the event, offering Wildcats supporters the opportunity to follow and support their teams remotely.
In the recent encounter with Wisconsin, notable performances by key Wildcats athletes contribute to the team's readiness for the upcoming competition:
Andrew Martin made waves with a record-breaking swim in the 1000 Free. His time of 8:53.07 not only shattered the pool record but also secured him the 9th fastest time in the country so far this year. Martin's impressive performance currently stands as the fastest in the BIG10.
Ayla Spitz also delivered an outstanding performance in the 200 Free event. Spitz's time of 1:44.75 marked the fastest among all BIG10 schools during that week.
Markie Hopkins also brought home wins for the 'Cats for both the 1 meter and 3 meter boards in the recent meet against Wisconsin.
Following this weekend, the 'Cats are slated to participate in the upcoming Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio, at the end of the month.
