Seven Wildcats Set to Compete at U.S. Open in Greensboro

EVANSTON, Ill. – After a strong showing at the Purdue Invitational, seven Wildcats are set to represent Northwestern Swimming at the 2023 US Open Championships in Greensboro, N.C. from Wednesday, Nov. 29 to Saturday, Dec. 2.

On the women's side, Justine Murdock, Hana Shimizu-Bowers, and Ayla Spitz will compete at the event. Murdock is slated to compete in the 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter backstroke. Shimizu-Bowers is entered in the 200-meter fly. Spitz is scheduled to swim in the 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter freestyle, and 100-meter backstroke. 

On the men's side, David Gerchik, Kevin Houseman, Connor Morikawa, and Diego Nosack will represent the 'Cats. Gerchik will swim the 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter backstroke in Greensboro. Houseman and Morikawa are both slated to compete in the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke. Nosack is scheduled to swim in four events this weekend: 400-meter freestyle, 200-meter IM, 400-meter IM, and 200-meter butterfly.

After the new year, Wildcats will return to action for a dual meet at UChicago on January 13.
