EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 12 Northwestern grabbed a 2-0 shutout victory over Rutgers to remain unbeaten on Sunday at Martin Stadium.

Northwestern improved to 9-0-3 overall and 3-0-1 in Big Ten action with the win. NU is unbeaten through 12 games for the first time since 2008.

Northwestern broke through when Ugo Achara notched his third goal of the season in the 79th minute, assisted by Jayvin Van Deventer and Justin Weiss.

Northwestern doubled the lead on a sensational individual effort from Jayvin Van Deventer, weaving through Rutgers defenders to find open space in the box and fire a shot past the Rutgers goalkeeper.
