COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Northwestern field hockey claimed an overtime victory in their first game of the B1G/ACC Challenge on Friday in College Park, taking down No. 17 Boston College 1-0.
The 'Cats and the Eagles battled throughout, with neither team scoring a goal before the end of regulation. Northwestern outshoot Boston College 10 to 8 during regulation and Annabel Skubisz notched five saves to preserve the scoreless tie.
In overtime, Peyton Halsey finally provided a breakthrough for the 'Cats, scoring the game-winning goal on an assist from Ilse Tromp. The win brings the Wildcats to 1-1 this season.
Northwestern will be back in action on Sunday as they take on No. 20 Duke for the second half of the B1G/ACC Challenge. Start time is set for 11 am CT in College Park.
