Three 'Cats Selected to Junior World Cup Roster

EVANSTON, Ill. - Three members of Northwestern field hockey have been selected to the Junior World Cup roster by U.S. U-21 Women's National Team Head Coach Tracey Paul, USA Field Hockey announced Friday. First year Olivia Bent-Cole and seniors Lauren Wadas and Annabel Skubisz will suit up for the United States at the event, which is set to take place in Santiago, Chile from November 29 to December 10.

Bent-Cole, Wadas and Skubisz all earned spots on the World Cup team following their performances in the Junior Pan American Championships last April. The trio helped the U.S. to a gold medal by playing key roles in the team's 4-1 shootout win over Argentina in the finale.

Skubisz, a goalkeeper, joins her second Junior World Cup roster after competing for the U.S. in 2021. She is fresh off a pair of Pan American victories last spring, adding a gold in the Hockey5s Pan American Cup to an already impressive resume. The senior was named to back-to-back NCAA All-Tournament Teams for her work in the net during Northwestern's 2021 and '22 seasons and currently ranks seventh in school history in career saves, with 244.

A captain of the gold-medal Pan American team, Wadas will also be competing in her second Junior World Cup. The midfielder was named to the senior 2023-24 Women's National Team this June after making the U-21 USWNT rosters in both 2022 and 2023. On the collegiate side, Wadas' 2022 campaign earned her Big Ten and NCAA All-Tournament Team selections as well as NFHCA All-West First-Team honors.

Although she's been a member of the U.S. Women's Senior Team since 2022, this is Bent-Cole's first selection to a Junior World Cup roster. The incoming first year capped off her high school career with First-Team All-American honors and was named Field Hockey Player of the Year by both USA Today and MAX. She'll continue a decorated career with USA Field Hockey after spending time on the Junior Women's National Indoor Team, the U-16 Women's National Team, U-21 Women's National Team and the Senior Squad.
