Miller adds Slamkowski, Lowry to Coaching Staff

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern cross country has added two members to their staff, head coach Jill Miller announced Monday, as Megan Slamkowski and Maryn Lowry join the team as assistant coaches.

Slamkowski debuted with Northwestern cross country last July as a volunteer assistant coach, making the upcoming season her second with the 'Cats. She helped coach the team to a top-two finish at the Midwest Regional and their first NCAA team championship berth in 20 years during the 2022 cross country season. A 2022 graduate of Purdue University, Slamkowski brings experience with Big Ten athletics and insight into the student-athlete experience to Miller's staff.

"Megan's work for our program last year as a volunteer proved that she has what it takes to be a rising star in the coaching profession," Miller said. "I am thrilled to promote her to a full-time position so she can continue to support our program in very meaningful ways.  Her tireless work ethic and care for our student-athletes will continue to make an immense impact."

Joining Slamkowski is Lowry, who joins the Wildcats out of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she spent two years as the associate head coach of cross country and track and field. Prior to that, she served as the assistant cross country and track and field coach at the University of Montana. With both previous programs, Lowry coached conference point scorers in both indoor and outdoor events.

On Lowry, Miller said: "I am delighted to bring Maryn to Evanston as her skill set is the ideal complement to our coaching staff. She has proved herself as a diligent recruiter, takes the utmost care of her student-athletes, and brings a technical background that will undoubtedly help our program continue to grow."

On the heels of their most successful fall in two decades, cross country is set to begin their fifth season under Miller at the end of the summer. Meet dates and locations for the 2023 season have yet to be announced.
