"We are looking forward to the opportunity to compete against the University of Dayton for the next two years," said Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins. "They have a terrific program that has been filled with long-standing tradition and success over the years, along with an incredible fan base. This will be a great competitive opportunity for our team, and we are excited to add this to our non-conference schedule."

The all-time series between the 'Cats and Flyers is tied, 2-2. Northwestern won the last meeting 67-64 in 2016 at the United Center at the State Farm Chicago Legends with the help of current assistant coach Bryant McIntosh's 13 points and five assists. In the only prior meeting at Welsh-Ryan Arena, Northwestern claimed a 61-57 victory on December 5, 1998.

Northwestern reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season and earned a second-place finish in the Big Ten Conference standings by finishing 22-12 (12-8 B1G). Earlier this offseason, head coach Chris Collins was awarded a contract extension through the 2028 campaign. Three of the team's top four scorers return from last year, including All-Big Ten First Team selection Boo Buie.
