Wildcats Earns No. 1 National Seed in NCAA Tournament

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern University lacrosse team has earned its first No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament since 2009 and received a bye to the second round. The Wildcats will play the winner of Michigan and Central Michigan on Sunday, May 14 at 11 a.m. CT inside Martin Stadium. The first round game between the Wolverines and Chippewas will be hosted by Martin Stadium on Friday, May 12 at 2 p.m. CT.
 
All games in Evanston and the rest of the bracket in the first and second rounds will be televised on ESPN+.
 
Northwestern (17-1, 6-0 B1G) has won 17 straight games after dropping the season opener and claimed both the Big Ten Conference regular season and tournament titles this season for the second time in the last three seasons.
 
The Wildcats are making their 24th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 19th under head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller. In the last three tournaments (2019, 2021, 2022), NU reached the national semifinals and won all seven of its home games. Amonte Hiller holds a career NCAA Tournament record of 49-11 (.817).
 
Dating back to 2020, Northwestern has won 30 consecutive home games, the second longest active streak in the nation. Since Amonte-Hiller guided the program to her first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2004, the 'Cats are 29-0 in tournament games in Evanston.
