Northwestern Captures First B1G Win over Michigan

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern breezed to their first Big Ten win of the season with a 16-8 victory over Michigan led by seven goals from Izzy Scane.

It was a one woman show Thursday night with Scane scoring five of her seven goals solo. With 42 goals on the season, Scane now leads the NCAA in total goals with just six games under her belt.

Erin Coykendall followed with a hat trick and two assists, while Madison Taylor and Hailey Rhatigan netted two apiece to round out the Wildcat offense.

Samantha White starred on the defensive end of the field, picking up three ground balls, causing three turnovers and pulling down three draw controls. Jane Hansen also impressed, grabbing three ground balls and a caused turnover. 

Northwestern will return to Ryan Fieldhouse for their biggest matchup of the season against No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
