EVANSTON, Ill. (March 10, 2023) – No. 4 Northwestern fencing will continue its postseason journey on Saturday when it plays host to the NCAA Midwest Regional inside Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Action on the women's side is slated to begin at 9 a.m., with the men's events slated to follow at 1 p.m. Admission will be free of charge. A link to live results can be accessed to the right.
Northwestern, which checked in at No. 4 in the final United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) Poll, will be joined at the event by No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 5 Ohio State, Cleveland State, Denison, Detroit Mercy, Lawrence, and Wayne State.
12 Wildcats will look to punch their ticket to the upcoming NCAA Championships. Anna Damratoski, Asha Henry, Hanna Lipthay, and Karen Wang will represent Northwestern in the epee, while Anna Biasco, Juliana Hung, Rowan Park, and Samantha Serban are set to carry the banner for the 'Cats in the foil. Northwestern's sabre squad will include Sky Miller, Thea Nguyen, Megumi Oishi, and Kailing Sathyanath.
The 'Cats are coming off a runner-up team finish at the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CCFC) Championships two weeks ago in Columbus, Ohio. Eight members of the Northwestern roster earned All-CCFC honors, a group highlighted by First Team selections Wang, Biasco, Oishi, and Levi Hoogendoorn.
