EVANSTON, Ill. (February 15, 2023) – With the postseason fast approaching, No. 5 Northwestern fencing will head west this weekend to compete at the USA Fencing Junior Olympics in Denver, Colo.

LAST TIME OUT
Northwestern closed the duals portion of its 2022-23 schedule by going 3-2 at the Duke Meet in Durham, N.C. on Sunday.  The 'Cats got their stay at the Card Gymnasium off to a fast start, downing No. 9 Penn State by a 16-11 final, punctuated by 7-2 wins by both the epee and foil squads.  Northwestern carried momentum over to a clash with Brandeis, rolling to a 22-5 victory that saw the Wildcats sweep all three weapons.

After dropping a 15-12 setback to No. 12 Duke, the Wildcats rebounded with another 22-5 win, putting away MIT as they again won all three weapons.  Northwestern made a bid for a second upset of No. 1 Notre Dame in as many weeks, winning sabre by a 7-2 margin in a 15-12 defeat at the hands of the Fighting Irish.
