Wildcats Have Strong Opening Session at Purdue Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Northwestern Swimming and Diving will have 15 swimmers represented in scoring finals, putting itself in a strong position heading into the first evening session at the Purdue Invitational.
 
The Wildcats were impressive from the get-go, grabbing three spots in the A final of the women's 500 freestyle. Lola Mull led the group, swimming to the top seed by over a second, with a season's best 4:46.53. Hana Shimizu-Bowers (4:48.41) and Ashley Strouse (4:48.54) will also feature in the championship race. Mackenzie Lanning (4:57.28) will also have a shot to score points for the Northwestern women as she qualified for the B final.
 
On the men's side, Ryan King (4:26.84) and Jan Karolczak (4:26.93) qualified for the B final.
 
In the 200 individual medley, Tyler Lu (1:45.27) and Tona Zinn (1:47.19) will be in the middle of the pool for the men's championship event, securing second and third seed, respectively. Connor Morikawa (1:48.72) also has a chance to bring points in for the men as the top seed in the B final.
 
Annika Wagner (2:01.54), Hannah Brunzell (2:02.76), and Miriam Guevara (2:03.84) will feature in the women's B final.
 
There will be a significant Wildcat presence in the women's 50 free, with Jasmine Nocentini (22.08), Lindsay Ervin (22.70), and Audrey Yu (22.84) qualifying for the A final of the event. Riley Huddleston (23.09) and Ally Larson (23.16) will feature in the B final.
 
Collin Schuster (20.51) will showcase his speed in the B final on the men's side.
