EVANSTON, -- Northwestern and No. 8 Maryland played to a 1-1 draw Sunday at home at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium. The match was the second consecutive ranked opponent for the 'Cats and the second consecutive result.

The tie moved Northwestern's record to 1-6-4 overall and 0-3-2 in Big Ten play.

Northwestern broke the 0-0 tie when Christopher Thaggard notched his first goal of the season in the 61st minute, assisted by Paul Son and Bardia Kimiavi.

The Terrapins responded to make it a 1-1 game on a goal from Stefan Copetti in the 74th minute, assisted by Nick Richardson. The 1-1 score held to the end of the game.
