'Cats Derail Boilermakers in Big Ten Opener

EVANSTON, Ill. –– No. 18 Northwestern shut out Purdue and ran away with a 3-0 shutout victory Sunday at home at Martin Stadium.

The win improved Northwestern's record to 7-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in Big Ten play. The 7-1-1 record is the best in program history since starting 9-0-0 in 2016.

How it Happened

Northwestern broke the scoreless tie when Ella Hase notched her second goal of the season in the 5th minute, assisted by Lily Gilbertson.

The Wildcats went up 2-0 on a goal from Meg Boade -- her second goal of the season -- in the 20th minute, assisted by Danika Austin.

Northwestern made it a 3-0 lead on Josie Aulicino's 29th-minute goal, her fifth of the season. Aurea Del Carmen and Boade assisted the goal. Neither team scored again in the game.
