Doucette Earns IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern lacrosse senior goalkeeper Madison Doucette has been named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's (IWLCA) National Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in last week's 15-4 NCAA Tournament quarterfinal win against Syracuse.
 
The West Chester, Pa. product registered 11 saves and a single-game career-best .733 save percentage against the Orange. She was part of a Northwestern defense that held Syracuse to a season-low four goals, its lowest offensive output since 2021 a. The Wildcats had not allowed four goals or fewer in an NCAA Tournament game since an 18-4 win against Albany in the 2011 quarterfinals. Doucette tallied 10+ saves for the second straight game and fourth time this season.
 
The No. 4 seed Wildcats will appear in the program's 13th NCAA Tournament semifinal at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, May 27, against No. 1 seed North Carolina at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Md. ESPNU will televise the game.
