Evanston, IL - Northwestern Baseball returns to Evanston for a weekend series with Ohio State, beginning at 3:30pm on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats (20-20, 7-8) have yet to lose a Big Ten series at home this season, previously taking two out of three games from Penn State and Michigan State.
Northwestern enters the weekend tied for sixth in the Big Ten and just two games behind fifth place Michigan. Out of the Big Ten's 13 teams, only the top eight will advance to the conference tournament later this month in Omaha.
Against Ohio State, the Wildcats will look for a surging Anthony Calarco to stay hot at the plate. The senior hit .444 against No. 23 Maryland and clubbed his eighth home run of the season.
As a team, Northwestern has taken a "get 'em on, get 'em over and get 'em in" mentality. The 'Cats enter the Ohio State series among the Big Ten's top-five teams in doubles (84) and second in the conference in sacrifice bunts (22).
On the mound, expect Michael Farinelli to be a big factor over the weekend, after the graduate transfer from DIII Middlebury College tossed five innings of one-run baseball against the Terrapins. His 2.62 ERA against conference opponents leads the Wildcats.
Northwestern and Ohio State will resume the series on Saturday afternoon at 2pm CT and Sunday afternoon at 1pm CT.
