NU Falls in Game Two of Saturday Doubleheader

Evanston, IL - Northwestern fell 4-1 to Penn State in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. 

Northwestern got off to a good start offensively, as senior first baseman Anthony Calarco scored the only run for the Wildcats on a fielder's choice from sophomore outfielder Luke Tanner in the bottom of the fourth. Penn State would respond by scoring 4 unanswered runs, two each in the fifth and ninth innings.

First-year catcher Bennett Markinson had a productive day in the DH slot, going 2-4 with two singles and one stolen base. 

Senior RHP Michael Farinelli pitched eight innings for the Wildcats and was replaced by sophomore RHP David Utagawa.

After today's doubleheader, the Wildcats are 13-13 on the season. Sunday's matinee will decide the series winner, with the first pitch scheduled for Sunday, April 10th at 11:00 AM.
