No. 9 'Cats Set for Series at Ohio State

EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 9 Northwestern travels to Columbus to take on Ohio State in a three-game series this weekend. The Wildcats and Buckeyes will square off at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday, and noon on Sunday. Each game will be broadcast live on B1G+.

The Wildcats (24-6, 5-1 B1G) have won both weekend series in conference play this season, taking two-of-three against No. 23 Michigan this past weekend in Evanston.

Ohio State holds a 23-7 record this season, including 4-2 in conference play. The Buckeyes are tied for the third-most wins among Big Ten teams this season and received votes in the latest NFCA Top-25 poll.

The 'Cats are 69-34 all-time against Ohio State, winning each series between the two programs dating back to 2015.

Graduate student Rachel Lewis, who leads the 'Cats with 12 home runs and a 1.245 OPS this season, is steadily moving up the program record books. Lewis's 54 career home runs rank fourth in program history and her next longball will move her into a tie for third with Adrienne Monka (2009-12) and Garland Cooper (2004-07). Lewis is only three homers off the all-time leader Tammy Williams's total of 57.

Danielle Williams, the Big Ten strikeout leader at 184, is coming off three weekends of incredible performances. Williams tossed her second-career no-hitter against Stanford on March 20, struck out a career-high 17 batters in a one-hitter against Michigan St. on March 25, then followed it up with a 16-strikeout masterpiece to beat No. 23 Michigan on April 1.

Northwestern fell in its midweek game on Tuesday against No. 25 Notre Dame, 3-2. Lauren Dvorak turned in a strong start, allowing just one run in four innings. Angela Zedak crushed her fourth home run of the season to drive in both runs for NU.

Despite the loss, the 'Cats still boast an impressive 8-4 record against ranked opponents this season, including three top-10 wins.
