ROSEMONT, Ill. – Northwestern lacrosse graduate student Lauren Gilbert has been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. She shared the award with Maryland's Hannah Leubecker.
Gilbert tallied a game-high seven points (5g, 2a) in Northwestern's 22-14 win over Ohio State last week in the Big Ten opener. She tallied her fourth game of the season with seven-plus points. The grad student ranks second in the Big Ten in both goals per game (4.11) and points per game (5.44).
Northwestern has won three consecutive Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week awards after Erin Coykendall claimed it last week, and Gilbert two weeks prior. This is Gilbert's third career offensive player of the week award.
The Wildcats open Big Ten play this weekend as they welcome Ohio State to Ryan Fieldhouse at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19.
