Sullivan Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Evanston, IL - Northwestern first-year left-handed pitcher Sean Sullivan was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday morning.

The Andover, Massachusetts native picked up the first win of his Northwestern career in his second college start, throwing six scoreless innings and striking out nine as Northwestern defeated Santa Clara 10-0 on Saturday. Sullivan allowed no walks and picked off a runner.

After tossing three innings of one-run baseball against UAB last month, Sullivan is 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA and 15 strikeouts through the first two starts of his Northwestern career. He will pitch for the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League this summer.

Northwestern is back in action on Friday, as the Wildcats head to Ohio for a four-game set with Cincinnati. The Wildcats return to Evanston for their home opener a week from Friday, when Chicago's Big Ten Team battles Saint Thomas at 3 p.m. from Rocky & Berenice Miller Park.
